What Is Matcha?

Matcha is a premium green tea made from finely ground leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The leaves are grown in the shade for several weeks before harvesting, this boosts chlorophyll levels and gives the tea its vibrant green colour. After harvesting, the leaves are steamed to stop oxidation, then stone-ground into a fine powder. This powder is whisked into hot water, creating a smooth, rich, and invigorating drink!
